# Multiplication Order of Operations?

TopIn mathematics, for finding a correct result of an algebraic equation, we perform operations in an equation using the PEMDAS order means, first we perform parenthesis operations, then we perform exponential operations, then we perform multiplication or Division Operations by using the left to right traversal and at last, we perform addition or subtraction operations on given equation.
Now we discuss multiplication Order of Operations:
In, PEMDAS order multiplication or division gets third priority, where priority of multiplication and division is same but we can give priority to them by using the left to right traversal means, operator between multiplication and division, gets first priority.
Now we discuss an example, which shows multiplication order of operations -
Example: Find the result of following equation by using the multiplication order of operations -
5 * 8 + 6 / 6 – 12 * 2 =?
Solution: We use following steps by using the PEMDAS for result of given equation -
Step 1 : First of all, we check any parenthesis or exponential in given equation -
5 * 8 + 6 / 6 – 12 * 2,
There is no parenthesis or exponential, so we move towards multiplication order of operations.
Step 2: Now we apply multiplication order of operations from left to right traversal -
5 * 8 + 6 / 6 – 12 * 2,
=> 40 + 6 / 6 – 12 * 2,
=> 40 + 1 – 12 * 2,
=> 40 + 1 – 24,
Step 3: Now after multiplication order of operations, we perform addition or subtraction operations of given equations -
40 + 1 – 24,
=> 41 – 24,
=> 17,
So, 5 * 8 + 6 / 6 – 12 * 2 = 17.
