Order of Operations with Exponents?

TopAs we all know that Order of Operations is PEMDAS where ‘P’ means parenthesis, ‘E’ means exponential, ‘M’ means multiplication, ‘D’ means division, ‘A’ means addition and ‘S’ means subtraction. This is a order of operations in mathematics where first we will perform parenthesis and after parenthesis, we perform exponential, and after exponential, we perform multiplication or division operation from left to right order and after all this operations, we perform addition or subtraction operations from left to right order. For solving a mathematical equation order of operations is required thing because without order of operations, we can't get correct result.
Now we take some example to understand the order of operations with exponents-
Example 1: Find the result of following equation-
8 + (2 * 5) * 34 / 9?
Solution: We use following steps to evaluate the result of given equation-
Step 1: First of all, we perform parenthesis and exponential operation-
8 + (2 * 5) * 34 / 9,
=> 8 + (10) * 34 / 9,
Step 2: After performing a parenthesis operation, now we have to perform exponential operations -
8 + 10 * 34 / 9,
Here 34 is an exponential operation, so
=> 8 + 10 * 81 / 9,
Step 3: After first two steps, now we have to perform multiplication or Division Operations between data. For performing the multiplication or division operations, we traverse data from left to right. In between multiplication or division operations, if any operations come first, we perform that-
8 + 10 * 81 / 9,
=> 8 + 810 / 9,
=> 8 + 90,
Step 4: After first three operations, now we perform addition or subtraction operations on given equation. For performing the addition or subtraction operations we traverse from left to right-
8 + 90 = 98.
So, 8 + (2 * 5) * 34 / 9 = 98.
