# Formula for Volume of a Triangular Prism?

TopA Solid which has two identical ends and also having flat sides is known as a Prism. Now we will see the formula for volume of a triangular prism. The volume of a Triangular Prism = al; Where, ‘a’ is the area of one triangular end face and area of a triangular prism = ½ b * h. Where, ‘b’ is the base of a triangular prism, and ‘l’ is the length of a triangular prism.
‘h’ is the height of a triangular prism. Now we see how to find the volume of a triangular prism. For finding the area of a triangular prism we have to follow some of the steps:
Step 1: First we have to find the area of a triangular prism.
And we know that the area of a triangular prism = ½ b * h;
Step 2: For finding the area we have to find the base of a triangular prism.
Step 3: After than we have to find the length of a triangular prism.
Step 4: After finding the area of a triangular we have to find the height of a triangular prism.
Step 5: When we put all the values in the given volume formula we get the volume of a triangular.
Now we see it with the help of example:
Example: Find the volume of a triangular prism where base of a prism is 14 inch, height of a prism is 10 inch, and length of a prism is 20 inch?
Solution: we know that
The volume of a Triangular Prism = al;
Step 1: we have to find the area of a prism:
We know that the area of a prism = ½ b * h;
So putting the value in the given formula:
Given, base of prism = 14 inch;
Height = 10 inch;
Area = ½ b * h;
Area = ½ * 14 * 10;
Area = 70 inch2.
Step 2: Now put the value in the volume formula:
The volume of a Triangular Prism = al;
Volume = 70 * 20;
Volume = 1400 inch3.
The volume of a triangular prism is 1400 inch3.
