# How to Construct Parallelogram With Compass?

TopParallelogram can be defined as a type of quadrilateral which has two pairs of parallel sides. In parallelogram opposite sides are congruent and consecutive angles are different. Square is also a special type of parallelogram whose all angles are right angles or we can say it’s every angle should be of 90 degree. Now we will see how to construct parallelogram with compass, we will draw a parallelogram step by step. We will understand it with help of an example.

Draw a parallelogram PQRS with sides PQ = 4 inch and PS = 5 inch and angle P is 60 degree.
Step 1: To make a parallelogram first make a straight line and mark its end points as P and Q of length 4 inch. Then plot an angle of 60 degree at Point P.

Step 2: Then mark an arc along PS.

Step 3: Then using scale Set the length 5 inch and mark an arc along Line Segment PS then place sharp point of compass at point Q and make an arc 5 inch above point B.

Step 4: Set compass to 4 inch and put the sharp end at S and make an arc to bisect the arc that is drawn in above step and mark intersecting point R and join points R and S.

Step 5: At last join all points and we get a parallelogram PQRS.

Now we will see some formulas based on parallelogram.
Area of parallelogram is given as:
Area of parallelogram = b * h, here ‘b’ denotes breadth and ‘h’ denotes the height of parallelogram. Using this formula we can find area of parallelogram. This is all about area of parallelogram.
