# What are the Properties of a Cone?

TopA cone is a three dimensional surface which is having circular base and only one vertex. We can say it is having flat base, also having one side is curved surface. We cannot say that it is a polyhedral because it is having curved surface.
Some formulas are given:

If we want to find the surface area of base then we use formula:
Surface area of base = ⊼ * r2,
Surface area of side = ⊼ * r * s,
Or Surface area of side = ⊼ * r * √ (r2 + h2),
Volume of a cone = ⊼ * r2 * (h / 3),
‘H’ is the height of a cone.
‘R’ is the radius of a cone.
‘S’ is the side length.

Cone is having a pointy end which is known as vertex or apex.
And the flat part is known as base of a cone.
Its shaped is said to be conical.
When we rotating a triangle then a new shape are formed is also called cone and a triangle can be a right angled triangle and it can be rotated along to the shortest side.
Now we see what are the properties of a cone?
Its properties are used to define the volume, surface area and the total surface area of a cone. Some of the formulas for volume, surface area and total surface area of a cone:

Volume of a cone = r2 * h,
3
Where r denotes the radius the cone’s base and h is denotes the height of a cone.
Now surface area of a cone:
SA = ⊼ * r * √ (r2 + h2),
Where r denotes the radius the cone’s base and ‘h’ is denotes the height of a cone.
Now total surface area of a cone:
TA = SA + ⊼r2,
Where ‘r’ denotes the radius the cone’s base and SA is the cone’s face surface area.
