Rules to round Off Whole numbers:

Check the digit you wanted to be rounded off and refer the digit just next to it.

If digit is less than 5, change all right digit to 0.

If the digit is greater than 5 then add one to the digit and change all right place value digits to zero.

Rules to round off the decimal numbers:

Check the rounding Digit.

If the rounding value is greater than 5, add 1 to the digit and drop all right place values.

If the rounding digit is less than 5, remain it same and drop the other right values.

Examples:

Example 1: Round 1.17 to the nearest Value?

Solution: 1.20.

Example 2: Round 211 to the nearest Value?

Solution: 200.

Example 3: Round 1.10 to the nearest Value?

Solution: 1.10.

Example 4: Round 3.145 to the nearest Value?

Solution: 3.1.

Example 5: Round 72.189 to the nearest Value?

Solution: 72.2.

Example 6: Round 63.110 to the nearest Value?

Solution: 63.1.

Example 7: Round 121 to the nearest Value?

Solution: 120.

Example 8: Round 4.09 to the nearest Value?

Solution: 4.1.
